The New York Rangers defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning, 2-1, on Sunday in Prague to give the team a 2-0 start to the season. The Lightning jumped out to a quick lead thanks to a first period tip-in by Adam Hall, who was assisted by Andrej Meszaros and Chris Gratton. However, New York's Henrik Lundqvist kept Tampa Bay off the board for the remainder of the game, recording 18 saves as the Rangers' defense kept the Lightning from attempting too many shots on goal. Wade Redden tied the game with a power-play goal at the beginning of the second period, and Scott Gomez netted the go-ahead score on a wrist shot at the 12:12 mark in the second. Tampa Bay's Olaf Kolzig had 37 saves, but the two goals he allowed where all New York needed to win their second-consecutive game in the two-game European set.
