Cliff Fletcher, General Manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that Jeff Jackson has been named the General Manager of the Toronto Marlies, the American Hockey League affiliate of the Maple Leafs. Jackson will also maintain his current role as the Leafs? Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations. ?Jeff is a great asset to all aspects of the Maple Leafs? hockey operations department?, said Fletcher. ?We now look forward to Jeff expanding his responsibilities by managing the Toronto Marlies and overlooking the development of all Marlie players.? Jackson originally joined the Maple Leafs organization on June 23, 2006 as the Director of Hockey Administration. On August 24, 2007, Jackson was promoted to the position of Assistant General Manager and Director of Hockey Operations. Jackson will be responsible for all player personnel assignments with the Marlies. His responsibilities with the Maple Leafs include collective bargaining related duties, contract negotiations, assisting in player personnel decisions, all operational matters, salary arbitration and salary cap management. He also oversees the development and management of the Maple Leafs? operations budget.
