The Columbus Blue Jackets have added goaltender Dan LaCosta to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus? American Hockey League affiliate, General Manager Scott Howson announced today. The club also announced that goaltender Pascal Leclaire, who was struck in the head by a puck during warm-ups prior to Sunday?s game vs. Detroit, will miss at least the next two games. LaCosta, who will turn 22 on March 28, has compiled a 7-2-3 record with a 2.16 goals-against average, .930 save percentage, and one shutout in 12 games with Syracuse this season. In 31 career AHL games, he has gone 12-9-4 with a 2.51 goals-against average, .912 save percentage and four shutouts. He also spent parts of the past two seasons in the ECHL, including a 14-game stint with the Elmira Jackals in 2007-08 in which he was 7-4-0 with a 2.15 goals-against average and .932 save percentage. Columbus? third pick, 93rd overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft, LaCosta played four seasons in the Ontario Hockey League with Owen Sound and Barrie from 2002-06. He was 86-49-9 with a 2.84 goals-against average, .905 save percentage, and 11 shutouts in 170 career OHL games. The Labrador City, Newfoundland native was among the league?s top goaltenders in 2005-06 when he posted a 36-17-1 record, 2.55 goals-against average, .915 save percentage and six shutouts in 59 outings, ranking in the OHL?s top five in each of those statistical categories.
