Pittsburgh Penguins' forward Ryan Malone left the team Wednesday in Boston and returned to Pittsburgh to be treated by team doctors for an infected cut on his leg. The infection resulted in flu-like symptoms that caused Malone to sit out the Penguins' 4-0 loss Tuesday night against the New York Rangers. The Penguins were off Wednesday before playing in Boston on Thursday night. They return home to play the New York Islanders on Friday. Malone is expected to miss both games. Sixth in scoring on the team with nine goals, Malone also has five assists in 32 games.
