Canada defeated Finland 3-2 for its 19th world junior hockey title.

Kent Johnson scored the game-winning goal for Canada. Johnson was the No. 5 overall pick in the 2021 NHL draft by the Columbus Blue Jackets.

The tournament originally opened Dec. 26 in Edmonton and Red Deer. Rising COVID-19 cases among players and officials caused the forfeiture of games and the event was halted after just four days.
