The Red Wings found out Sunday they'll be without forward Johan Franzen for 3-to-4 weeks because of a sprained right knee. Franzen had an MRI done Sunday which showed a Grade 2 sprain. He injured the knee Saturday in Chicago when Blackhawks center Tuomo Ruutu fell into Franzen after getting tripped by Pavel Datsyuk. "I haven't talked to Johan yet, but I'm sure he's disappointed," general manager Ken Holland said. "He was one of our best players during the exhibition season and he was looking forward to this season. It's disappointing, but now this creates an opportunity for somebody else."
