Canucks, Brock Boeser Agree To Three-Year Extension

The Canucks and restricted free-agent forward Brock Boeser have agreed to a three-year contract extension, the team announced Monday.

The deal holds an average annual value of $5.875 million.

"We're very pleased to have Brock re-sign," Vancouver general manager Jim Benning said. "He's a talented player, a key contributor to our offense and an important part of our team's future. We look forward to having Brock join the team in preparation for the upcoming season."

Stars To Buy Out Nichushkin; Canucks Place Spooner On Waivers

The Dallas Stars have placed former first-round draft pick Valeri Nichushkin on waivers to buy out the final year of his contract, a person with direct knowledge of the decision told The Associated Press.

The Vancouver Canucks also announced that they had placed center Ryan Spooner on waivers to buy out the final year of his two-year, $8 million contact.

Lightning Send J.T. Miller To Canucks For Draft Picks

The Tampa Bay Lightning earned a little breathing room under the NHL salary cap by shipping forward J.T. Miller to the Canucks on Saturday.

Miller was moved for goalie Marek Mazanec, a third-round pick in the 2019 draft and a conditional first-round pick in either 2020 or 2021. Tampa Bay used the third-rounder on Swedish goaltender Hugo Alnefelt.

The Anaheim Ducks have acquired defenseman Michael Del Zotto from the Vancouver Canucks for defenseman Luke Schenn and a 2020 seventh-round draft pick.

The teams announced the trade Wednesday night. Del Zotto, 28, had a goal and three assists with the Canucks this season and has 54 goals and 161 assists in 10 NHL seasons.

Radim Vrbata Retires After 16 NHL Seasons

Radim Vrbata, who played 16 seasons in the NHL for seven teams, announced his retirement.

The 37-year-old from the Czech Republic scored more than 20 or more goals in a season six times, including a career-high 35 for Phoenix in 2011-12. He scored 31 for the Canucks in 2014-15 and made his only All-Star appearance that season.
