Zdeno Chara Confirms He Suffered Multiple Fractures

Jun 15, 2019 1:44 PM

Bruins captain Zdeno Chara confirmed he suffered multiple fractures to his jaw when he was hit with a puck during Game 4 of the Stanley Cup Final against the Blues in St. Louis.

Chara, speaking to reporters at the Bruins' end-of-season availability Friday, said his jaw was being held together by "two plates, some wires and screws" for the last three games of the Final, won by the Blues on Wednesday.

"It's an amazing job on this," Chara said. "They were able to put [it] together quick -- 36 hours from the end of Game 4 to Game 5.

"Just being hit by a puck or blocking shots, there's nothing you can do about that. You play the game to put your body out there."

Las Vegas Picks Lightning To Win 2020 Stanley Cup

Jun 12, 2019 11:43 PM

Oddsmakers are not allowing a historic payout and overall financial loss to influence their bookmaking protocol.

The Tampa Bay Lightning are the favorites with 5-1 odds, fresh off capturing the Presidents' Trophy with the league's best regular-season record, though they were upset in the first round.

"There's no reason to think they're not going to be a buzzsaw again," Davis said. "They have a top-three goalie. All lines can score. They have to be the favorite and they have to be a sizable favorite."

Vegas (9-1), St. Louis (10-1), the Boston Bruins (12-1) and Toronto Maple Leafs (12-1) are next in line. The Ottawa Senators (400-1), Los Angeles Kings (150-1) and Detroit Red Wings (100-1) represent the long shots with triple-digit odds.

Ryan O'Reilly Takes Blame For Game 6 Loss

Jun 10, 2019 1:09 PM

Ryan O'Reilly slammed his stick against the boards in frustration.

He had just sent the puck sailing over the glass for a delay-of-game call while on the penalty kill in the first period of Game 6. He had just handed the Boston Bruins' power play, best in the NHL playoffs since 1981, an opportunity to take an early lead on a five-on-three advantage, which they did on Brad Marchand's goal at 8 minutes, 40 seconds. After the Bruins' 5-1 win over the St. Louis Blues on Sunday to send the Stanley Cup Final to a Game 7 on Wednesday, O'Reilly said his mistake was undeniably a turning point in the game.
