Robert Bortuzzo Signs Three-Year Extension With Blues

The St. Louis Blues have signed veteran defenseman Robert Bortuzzo to a three-year extension worth $1.375 million per season.

St. Louis general manager Doug Armstrong announced Bortuzzo's $4.125 million contract extension Saturday. Bortuzzo is now signed through the 2021-22 season.

Blues General manager Doug Armstrong fired Mike Yeo after Monday's 2-0 loss to the Kings. Craig Berube is the interim coach while Armstrong assembles a list of candidates for the permanent job.

"There's going to be experienced head coaches on that list," he said at a news conference Tuesday. "There's going to be European head coaches on that list. College head coaches on that list. Junior head coaches. We're not going to minimize or limit the scope that we're going to look at."

Blackhawks Start Season With Five Straight OT Games

The Chicago Blackhawks became the first team in NHL history to start the season with five straight overtime games on Saturday.

Alex DeBrincat scored with nine second left in OT to beat the Blues 4-3, the second time this season Chicago has beaten St. Louis in overtime.

The New York Rangers had held the record with four OT games to start the 1997-98 season.

Patrick Maroon Signs One-Year, $1.75M Deal With Blues

Patrick Maroon is headed home, signing a one-year, $1.75 million contract with the St. Louis Blues.

Maroon grew up in a St. Louis suburb and played for the St. Louis Bandits of the North American Hockey League.

"We're excited to add Pat Maroon to our group," Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said, according to the team's website.

The two sides are close to having the framework of a deal in place after Hutton visited Buffalo this week, according to reports. Agreements cannot be announced until the signing period begins.

Blues Sign GM Doug Armstrong To Four-Year Extension

The Blues have signed general manager Doug Armstrong to a four-year contract extension with a team option for a fifth year, the team announced Wednesday.

Armstrong, who is also the team's president of hockey operations, is in his 10th season with the Blues. Since he became GM in 2010, the team has a 337-185-56 regular-season record (fourth-best in the NHL since the 2010-11) and has reached the playoffs six years in a row.
