Blues Place Torey Krug On IR With Lower-Body Injury

St. Louis Blues defenseman Torey Krug was placed on injured reserve Tuesday with a lower-body injury and will be reevaluated in six weeks.

Krug, 31, has five goals and 12 assists in 31 games this season, his third with St. Louis. He will be a long-term IR exception to the salary cap.

Blues GM: 'I Believe In The Coach, I Believe In The System'

Craig Berube will remain coach of the St. Louis Blues, and it's the job of the players to turn things around, general manager Doug Armstrong said Tuesday.

Berube, in his fifth season with the Blues, is 159-85-36. St. Louis made the Stanley Cup Playoffs each of his first four seasons and won the Stanley Cup in 2019. He is in the first season of a three-year contract he signed Feb. 9.

"I believe in the coach, I believe in the system," Armstrong said. "This isn't a system issue, it's a competitive issue. We have to rectify that.

Marco Scandella To Miss At Least Six Months After Hip Surgery

St. Louis Blues defenseman Marco Scandella will miss at least six months after undergoing surgery on his right hip joint.

The Blues said Scandella injured the hip in late August while training for the upcoming season. He's scheduled to be re-evaluated in six months.

Blues Sign Jordan Kyrou To Eight-Year, $65M Deal

Jordan Kyrou signed an eight-year, $65 million contract with the St. Louis Blues on Tuesday that begins next season. It has an average annual value of $8.125 million and runs through 2030-31.

The 23-year-old forward set NHL career-highs in goals (27), assists (45) and points (75), ranking fourth on the Blues in points.

Ryan Miller Among Five Elected To U.S. Hockey HOF Class

Ryan Miller, who has won more games than any United States-born goalie in NHL history, is among five people elected to the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Class of 2022, USA Hockey announced Thursday.

Miller went 391-289-87 with one tie, a 2.64 goals-against average, .914 save percentage and 44 shutouts in 796 games (772 starts) in 18 NHL seasons with the Buffalo Sabres, St. Louis Blues, Vancouver Canucks and Anaheim Ducks. He was 28-27 with a 2.52 GAA, .913 save percentage and three shutouts in 57 Stanley Cup Playoff games (55 starts).

The Detroit Red Wings have acquired St. Louis Blues goalie Ville Husso, who was a pending unrestricted free agent.

Detroit sent a third-round pick, the 73rd overall pick in the 2022 NHL draft, to the Blues for Husso.

Bruins Set To Name Jim Montgomery New Head Coach

The Boston Bruins are set to name Jim Montgomery as their new head coach, sources told ESPN on Thursday, confirming multiple reports.

The appointment is expected to be made official Friday, the same day Montgomery's contract as an assistant coach with the St. Louis Blues expires.

The 53-year-old Montgomery replaces Bruce Cassidy, who was fired by the Bruins on June 7 after six seasons behind the bench.

Jordan Binnington Admits Throwing Water Bottle At Nazem Kadri

St. Louis Blues goaltender Jordan Binnington confirmed Tuesday that he threw a water bottle at Colorado Avalanche center Nazem Kadri after Game 3 of their second-round series.

On May 21, Binnington left the game in the first period with a lower-body injury that he suffered after Kadri and Blues defenseman Calle Rosen crashed the net seeking a loose puck. The injury ended Binnington's season, as Blues goalie Ville Husso played the rest of the six-game series, which St. Louis lost to the Avalanche.

Darren Helm scored with 5.6 seconds remaining in the third period, and the Colorado Avalanche eliminated the St. Louis Blues with a 3-2 win in Game 6 of the Western Conference Second Round at Enterprise Center on Friday.

Helm won it on a slap shot from the left circle for his first goal of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.

The Avalanche won the best-of-7 series 4-2 and will face the Edmonton Oilers in the conference final, beginning with Game 1 on Tuesday.
