After a miserable month, the San Jose Sharks finally have something to celebrate.

Anthony Duclair had a goal and an assist as the Sharks beat the Philadelphia Flyers 2-1 on Tuesday night to snap an 11-game losing streak that matched the longest to start a season in NHL history.

Sean Couturier will skate in a game for the first time in 20 months on Monday.

The Philadelphia Flyers' forward had back surgery twice since 2021 and last played a game in December of that year. The 30-year-old said he feels "pretty good" since training camp began, but knows there's a bit of rust to shake in the coming weeks.

"I've been waiting for this moment for a while," Couturier said Monday, before the Flyers faced the New Jersey Devils in the preseason opener.

"All summer I've been thinking about it and now I'm here. I'm just excited to get warmups going and get that first shift out of the way, just play hockey. I think that's what I miss most."

Restricted free agent forward Morgan Frost signed a two-year, $4.2 million contract with the Philadelphia Flyers on Thursday.

Frost, 24, recorded 46 points (19 goals, 27 assists) in 81 games last season with the Flyers. He led the team with 41 even-strength points (18 goals, 23 assists) and ranked third in goals while playing on a one-year, $800,000 deal.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed defenseman Oliver Bonk, their first-round pick in the 2023 NHL Draft, to a three-year, entry-level contract on Monday.

The team did not announce any financial terms.

The International Ice Hockey Federation has ruled in favor of the Philadelphia Flyers by agreeing that Russian goaltender Ivan Fedotov had a valid NHL contract for the upcoming season when he signed with CSKA Moscow in the KHL.

The decision rendered Monday paves the way for Fedotov to play in North America, like he planned to do a year ago before being conscripted into the Russian military.

Journeyman forward Nate Thompson retired after 15 seasons with nine NHL teams.

Thompson, 38, who last played for the Philadelphia Flyers in 2021-22, confirmed his decision via social media.

"From the time I was four until 38 hockey has been my life and best friend. I'm beyond grateful and thankful for all the great people I've met and friendships I've made," he posted on Twitter. "All good things must come to an end so thank you to all who supported me along this journey."

The Philadelphia Flyers will buy out the last season of defenseman Tony DeAngelo's contract, making him an unrestricted free agent and ending his turbulent tenure with the team.

General manager Daniel Briere announced Friday that DeAngelo had been placed on unconditional waivers.

The Philadelphia Flyers re-signed defenseman Cam York to a two-year contract worth $3.2 million, the team announced.

York, 22, was a restricted free agent but will now play on a deal that carries a team-friendly salary cap hit of $1.6 million. Philadelphia can renegotiate with him at any time over the next two years, or else he'll become an unrestricted free agent in July 2025.

The Philadelphia Flyers signed goaltender Alexei Kolosov to a three-year, entry-level contract.

Terms of the deal announced Sunday with the 2021 third-round draft pick were not disclosed.

Unrestricted free agent forward Zack MacEwen signed a three-year, $2.325 million contract with the Ottawa Senators on Thursday.

MacEwen, who will turn 27 on Saturday, recorded 10 points (four goals, six assists), 66 penalty minutes and 150 hits in 56 games last season split between the Philadelphia Flyers and Los Angeles Kings, who acquired the rugged forward ahead of the trade deadline.
