Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that Tucson Roadrunners Head Coach Jay Varady will be joining Coyotes Head Coach Rick Tocchet’s staff for the 2020-21 NHL season.

“We are thrilled to add Jay to our coaching staff this season,” said Armstrong. “Jay is a talented coach with a great work ethic. He will help take our coaching staff to the next level.”

“Jay is a great coach with a very high hockey IQ,” said Tocchet. “I’ve developed a good relationship with him the last six months and I’m confident that he can help us in a lot of areas. I’m looking forward to working with him this season.”

The Chicago Blackhawks are embarking on a rebuild, and they want their young coach to be a part of it. The team announced Tuesday that Jeremy Colliton has received a two-year extension that runs through the 2022-23 season.

The Minnesota Wild have signed forward Marcus Foligno to a three-year, $9.3 million contract extension on Tuesday, as he comes off the best season of his NHL career.

Arizona Coyotes General Manager Bill Armstrong announced today that the club has signed center Frederik Gauthier to a one-year, two-way contract.

The 25-year-old Gauthier registered 7-5-12 and 10 penalty minutes (PIM) in 61 games with the Toronto Maple Leafs in 2019-20. His seven goals and 16.7 shooting percentage were NHL career highs.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed restricted free-agent forward Jesper Bratt to a two-year, $5.5 million contract.

Devils general manager Tom Fitzgerald announced the deal on Sunday, four days before the season opener at home against the Boston Bruins.

The 22-year-old Bratt will make just over $2 million this season and $3.45 next season.

The New Jersey Devils have re-signed defenseman Sami Vatanen less than a year after trading him to the Carolina Hurricanes.

The Devils announced Thursday that the free agent was given a one-year, $2 million contract.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have signed right winger Oliver Bjorkstrand to a five-year, $27 million extension, general manager Jarmo Kekalainen announced Wednesday.

The deal links Bjorkstrand to the Blue Jackets through the 2025-26 season. He had one season remaining on his current contract.

The Nashville Predators have signed forward Luke Kunin to a two-year, $4.6 million contract, general manager David Poile said Wednesday.

The Seattle Kraken made two more additions to their front office Tuesday, bringing in former Buffalo general manager Jason Botterill as an assistant GM and Norm Maciver as director of player personnel.

Botterill joins the Kraken after serving as the general manager of the Sabres for three seasons. Botterill was fired in June in a strange flip-flop after the Sabres ownership initially announced he would return for a fourth season.
