The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the club has named Martin Madden Assistant General Manager.

Madden has spent the last 12 seasons with the Ducks, most recently serving as the club’s Director of Amateur Scouting. In his new role, Madden will oversee all of the club’s scouting efforts and assume an expanded role in a majority of hockey operations directives and initiatives. He will continue to play a key role in producing the final prospect list leading up to the 2020 NHL Draft.

The Buffalo Sabres fired general manager Jason Botterill on Tuesday.

The move comes less than a month after ownership publicly supported Botterill.

"He's our GM. Our plan is to continue with him," team president and co-owner Kim Pegula told the Associated Press in May. "I realize maybe it's not popular with the fans, but we have to do the things that we feel are right. We have a little bit more information than maybe a fan does, some inner workings that we see some positives in."

Kevyn Adams, the team's senior VP of business administration, was named general manager.

The Arizona Coyotes have made Xavier Gutierrez the first Latino team president and CEO in NHL history.

Gutierrez's hiring was announced Monday by Alex Meruelo, who became the NHL's first Latino controlling owner when he bought a majority stake in the Coyotes last year.
