Michael Hutchison signed a two-year, two-way contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Friday. It has an average annual value of $725,000 at the NHL level.

The 30-year-old goalie was 5-9-1 with a 3.47 goals-against average, .888 save percentage and one shutout in 16 games (12 starts) with the Maple Leafs and Colorado Avalanche last season.

The Lightning re-signed two depth players from their Stanley Cup-winning team on Thursday, bringing back forward Patrick Maroon and defenseman Luke Schenn.

The Dallas Stars officially named Rick Bowness as their head coach on Thursday.

Bowness had been the interim coach since Dec. 10, 2019, when Jim Montgomery was fired for "unprofessional conduct." Bowness coached Dallas to a 20-13-5 record in 38 regular-season games before leading the Stars on a run to the Stanley Cup Final.

Tyler Bertuzzi was awarded a one-year, $3.5 million contract with the Detroit Red Wings by an independent arbitrator Tuesday.

The 25-year-old forward had a salary arbitration hearing Sunday. He was the first of 26 restricted free agents who filed for arbitration to have a hearing.

Trevor Daley's steadying presence on the blue line helped the Pittsburgh Penguins win consecutive Stanley Cups in 2016 and 2017. The team hopes Daley can make the same impact in a different capacity as a hockey operations adviser.

The 37-year-old Daley announced his retirement after 16 seasons on Monday in conjunction with his decision to begin his post-playing career by returning to the Penguins.

The team said Daley will assist in player evaluations at both the NHL and minor league levels and help the coaching staff during games.

In addition to Daley's hire, the Penguins announced Monday that they fired assistant general manager Jason Karmanos. Sam Ventura, the team's director of hockey research, will assume Karmanos' duties on an interim basis.

Linus Ullmark signed a one-year, $2.6 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

The 27-year-old goalie was a restricted free agent and avoided a salary arbitration hearing scheduled for Monday.

Sam Reinhart signed a one-year, $5.2 million contract with the Buffalo Sabres on Sunday.

The 24-year-old forward was a restricted free agent who had an arbitration hearing scheduled Tuesday. He scored 50 points (22 goals, 28 assists) in 69 games last season.

Lindy Ruff completed his New Jersey Devils staff, hiring Chris Taylor as an assistant coach and Dave Rogalski as the goaltending coach.

General manager Tom Fitzgerald announced the moves Friday.

Ruff previously retained Alain Nasreddine and hired Mark Recchi.

The New Jersey Devils added experience to their defense, signing Russian Dmitry Kulikov to a one-year, $1.15 million contract.

After a scoring a career-high 43 points last season, forward Connor Brown has signed a three-year contract with the Ottawa Senators for an average annual value of $3.6 million per season.

"We're very happy to have Connor back under contract," Senators general manager Pierre Dorion said in a statement.
