Canadiens Legend Guy Lafleur Dies At 70

Montreal Canadiens legend Guy Lafleur has died, the team announced Friday. He was 70.

No cause of death was given, but Lafleur had announced his most recent right lung cancer diagnosis in October 2020. He had previously had a cancerous lobe removed from his left lung in 2019.

"We are deeply saddened to learn of the death of Guy Lafleur," Canadiens owner Geoff Molson said in a statement.

Former Isles Star Mike Bossy Dies At 65

Mike Bossy, one of hockey's most prolific goal scorers and a star for the New York Islanders during their 1980s dynasty, has died. He was 65.

The Islanders and TVA Sports, the French-language network in Canada where he worked as a hockey analyst, confirmed Bossy died Thursday night. A team spokesperson said Bossy was in his native Montreal.

Bossy had said in October in a letter to TVA Sports that he had been diagnosed with lung cancer.
