Gary Bettman said the league will take Monday night to review the offer before getting back to the union, but that they'll do their best to make a quick turnaround.

The NHL has made a new proposal to the NHLPA with time ticking toward a canceled season, the league has confirmed.

In a statement released on Friday, deputy commissioner Bill Daly called the offer a "comprehensive proposal for a successor CBA," saying it was delivered to the union Thursday afternoon.

"We are not prepared to discuss the details of our proposal at this time," Daly said. "We are hopeful that once the union's staff and negotiating committee have had an opportunity to thoroughly review and consider our new proposal, they will share it with the players. NHLPA Wants To Resume Talks

Apr 10, 2014 10:23 PM

The head of the NHLPA says his side is set to resume labor talks anywhere, anytime, but is waiting for league negotiators to feel the same way.

NHLPA executive director Donald Fehr was asked why bargaining has not resumed this week.

"Because the owners have not indicated a desire to resume," Fehr said. "We've indicated any number of times that we're willing to resume whenever they are without pre-conditions.''

Deputy commissioner Bill Daly, reached by ESPN.com via email Wednesday evening, said the league is willing to resume talks under the right conditions.

"We haven't said we won't meet, but we certainly would want to know what the agenda is and how they intend to proceed,'' Daly said.

Interest Grows For Second Players, Owners Meeting

Oct 29, 2014 4:35 AM

As part of the negotiating committee for the NHLPA, Jets defenseman Ron Hainsey has kept busy during the lockout by taking part in the ongoing talks with the NHL.

"We've said it a number of times, but it's worth repeating: It's obviously very difficult to make a deal if you're not meeting or negotiating," Hainsey told The Associated Press in a telephone interview Tuesday. "I've yet to see a way we can do it without sitting down across a table from each other."
