The person spoke on the condition of anonymity on Wednesday, because the Red Wings have not announced the move. TSN first reported the move earlier the day.

Three players, the Sabres' Ville Leino, the Canucks' David Booth, and the Stars' Aaron Rome, have been placed on waivers Tuesday with the intention of being bought out by their respective NHL teams, sources confirmed to ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.
