Predators Recall Klein From AHL Milwaukee
Nashville Predators' Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has recalled defenseman Kevin Klein from his conditioning assignment with the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League.
Klein, 25 (7/8/82), appeared in six games with Milwaukee and tallied two assists. In five NHL games with Nashville this season, the Kitchener, Ont. native has posted one assist.
Ducks Assign Mowers To SC Bern Of The Swiss National League
The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has assigned center Mark Mowers to SC Bern of the Swiss National League.
Mowers, 33 (2/16/74), appeared in 17 games for Anaheim this season, scoring a goal (1-0=1) with eight penalty minutes (PIM). The 5-11, 174-pound center spent the 2006-07 season with the Boston Bruins, scoring 5-12=17 points with 26 PIM in 78 games played. He set numerous career highs with the Bruins last season, including goals, assists, points, PIM, games played and average TOI (12:00).
Mowers was acquired from Boston in exchange for defensemen Brett Skinner and Nathan Saunders on Sept. 24, 2007. He has played in seven NHL seasons with Nashville, Detroit, Boston and Anaheim. In 278 career NHL games, he has collected 18-44=62 points with 70 PIM. The Decatur, Georgia native was originally signed by Nashville as a free agent on June 11, 1998.
During a four-year collegiate career at the University of New Hampshire, Mowers earned Hockey East Rookie of the Year honors in 1995 and was named to the NCAA East First All-American Team and Hockey East Second All-Star Team in 1998. With Nashville?s development affiliate in Milwaukee, he won the Ken McKenzie Trophy as the International Hockey League?s U.S.-born Rookie of the Year in 1999.

Sharks Send Plihal To AHL Worcester
The Sharks on Thursday assigned left wing Tomas Plihal to Worcester of the AHL.
Plihal has not appeared in any games with the team this season, after suffering a shoulder injury during the preseason.
Wild Reassigns Schaefer To AHL Houston; Harding Comes Off IR
Minnesota Wild President and General Manager Doug Risebrough today announced the National Hockey League (NHL) club has reassigned goaltender Nolan Schaefer to the Houston Aeros of the American Hockey League (AHL). The Wild has also activated goaltender Josh Harding from Injured Reserve.
Harding, 23 (6/18/84), is 3-5-1 with a 2.68 goals against average GAA and a .914 save percentage in 10 games with the Wild this season. The 6-foot-1, 197-pound native of Regina, Sask., was Minnesota?s second-round choice (No. 38 overall) in the 2002 NHL Entry Draft. Harding is 8-8-2 with a 2.15 GAA and a .927 save pct. in 20 career NHL games - all with Minnesota.
Schaefer, 27 (1/15/80), has been recalled to the Wild three times this season without appearing in a game. He is 3-4-0 with a 2.67 (GAA) and a .906 save percentage in seven games for the Aeros this season. Schaefer is a 6-foot-2, 195-pound native of Yellow Grass, Sask. He was San Jose?s fifth-round pick (No. 166 overall) in the 2000 NHL Entry Draft. Minnesota signed Schaefer as a free agent on July 3, 2007. Schaefer is 5-1-0 with a 1.88 GAA in seven career NHL games - all with San Jose.
Avs Recall Hensick From AHL Lake Erie
The Avalanche on Thursday recalled center T.J. Hensick from Lake Erie of the AHL.
The 21-year-old leads Lake Erie in scoring this season with five goals and 13 points in 18 games.
Red Wings Recall Hartigan From AHL Grand Rapids
The Red Wings on Thursday recalled center Mark Hartigan from Grand Rapids of the AHL.
The 30-year-old has appeared in 79 NHL games since the 2001-02 season, compiling 16 goals and 26 points. He played last season with both Columbus and Anaheim, notching just three points in 12 games combined.
Jackets Place Novotny On IR; Recall Methot, Popperle From AHL
The Columbus Blue Jackets have placed center Jiri Novotny on injured reserve, recalled defenseman Marc Methot and added goaltender Tomas Popperle to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, the club?s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets' General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Novotny was placed on injured reserve retroactive to November 23 when he suffered a concussion against the Minnesota Wild at Xcel Energy Center.
Methot, 22, has registered two goals and an assist with 32 penalty minutes in 20 games with the Crunch this season. He made his NHL debut last season on Feb. 25 vs. Nashville and played in 20 games for the Blue Jackets, recording 0-4-4 with 12 penalty minutes and a +5 plus/minus rating. In 149 career AHL games, he has tallied 5-27-32 with 165 penalty minutes.
Popperle, 23, has gone 5-8-0 with a 3.30 goals-against average and .889 save percentage in 14 games with the Crunch this season. He made his NHL debut last season with the Blue Jackets, appearing in two games with a 1.35 GAA and .929 SV% in 44:30 of action. In 63 career AHL games, he has gone 30-27-4 with a 2.95 GAA and .891 SV%.
