Tyler Seguin's Hip Surgery Delayed

Nov 4, 2020 5:17 PM

Tyler Seguin's surgery to repair a torn labrum in his hip has been delayed, and the Dallas Stars forward would be out for up to another month of the NHL season if it starts as planned on Jan. 1, 2021.

"We anticipate he's having it next week," Stars general manager Jim Nill said Thursday. "Because of the (coronavirus) pandemic, where he's having the surgery, there are certain restrictions, so we've had to work around some of those things. Some surgeries have been canceled, so he hasn't had it yet. We'll have another call here, I hope, next week, and I can update everyone on things moving forward."

Lightning Expect Steven Stamkos Will Be Ready For Next Season

Oct 5, 2020 5:29 PM

The Tampa Bay Lightning said star center Steven Stamkos will be ready for the 2020-21 season, finally revealing details of the injury that limited him to just one game in their Stanley Cup championship run.

General manager Julien BriseBois said that Stamkos suffered a compensatory injury while rehabbing from a sports hernia surgery, which he underwent on March 2. Stamkos "fully recovered" from that surgery and participated in Phase 2 of the NHL's return to play protocols, working out at team facilities.
