Ducks, John Klingberg Agree To One-Year Deal

John Klingberg has agreed to a one-year deal with the Anaheim Ducks, the team announced Friday.

Klingberg was one of the most sought-after free agent defensemen this offseason after putting up 47 points in 74 games.

"We are extremely excited to add John to our group," said Ducks general manager Pat Verbeek in a statement.

The New York Rangers have agreed to terms with forward Kaapo Kakko on a two-year contract worth $4.2 million.

The deal with the No. 2 pick in the 2019 draft carries an annual salary cap hit of $2.1 million. General manager Chris Drury announced the agreement Thursday.

Center Isac Lundestrom has agreed to a two-year, $3.6 million contract with the Anaheim Ducks.

Lundestrom and the Ducks avoided arbitration with the deal announced Monday. Anaheim general manager Pat Verbeek has re-signed all of the club's restricted free agents.

Devils, Vitek Vanecek Agree To Three-Year, $10.2M Deal

The New Jersey Devils acquired Vitek Vanecek so he would compete for the starting goaltender job.

Now they're paying him in line with those expectations.

Vanecek and the team agreed to terms Tuesday on a $10.2 million, three-year contract that counts $3.4 million against the salary cap through 2025.

After avoiding arbitration, he will make $3.55 million next season, slightly less than incumbent starter Mackenzie Blackwood, who is going into the final year of his contract.

The Columbus Blue Jackets on Wednesday agreed to terms with star forward Johnny Gaudreau on a seven-year contract, the team announced, landing NHL free agency's biggest name in a stunning move.

Gaudreau's deal with the Blue Jackets is for $68.25 million, carrying an average annual value of $9.75 million against the NHL salary cap.

Evgeni Malkin has agreed to a four-year contract extension with the Pittsburgh Penguins on the eve of NHL free agency, ending a tumultuous week between the star center and the team.

Malkin, 35, will earn $24.4 million over four years for an average annual value of $6.1 million.

"Evgeni is a generational talent who will be remembered as one of the greatest players in NHL history," Penguins general manager Ron Hextall said Tuesday night in a statement.

Kings Bring Back Carl Grundstrom, Lias Andersson

Forwards Carl Grundstrom and Lias Andersson agreed to contract extensions with the Los Angeles Kings on Monday.

Grundstrom landed a two-year deal worth $2.6 million through the 2023-24 season, and Andersson agreed to a one-year deal for $750,000.

Grundstrom scored a career-high 15 points in 54 games last season with the Kings. The 24-year-old Swede also scored three goals in Los Angeles' first-round playoff loss to Edmonton.
