Rangers, Biron Agree On New Deal

Rangers President and GM Glen Sather announced today that the club has agreed to terms with goaltender Martin Biron on a new contract. Biron, 34, has posted a 20-12-2 record with a 2.32 goals against average, .912 save percentage and two shutouts in 38 games over the last two seasons with the Rangers after signing with the team as a free agent on July 1, 2010. Last season, Biron was 12-6-2 with a 2.46 goals against average, .904 save percentage and two shutouts in 21 games. He tied for fourth among NHL goaltenders with three assists on the season.

Kings, Quick Agree On 10-Year Deal

The Kings have agreed to terms with goaltender Jonathan Quick on a 10-year contract extension, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today. Quick, in addition to being a Stanley Cup Champion, is also a Conn Smythe winner, Vezina Trophy Finalist, NHL All-Star and Kings MVP who will call Los Angeles home through the 2022-23 season. Quick had a record-setting year in 2011-12 for the Kings and ranked amongst the NHL’s best in every major goaltending category. He was even better during the 2012 Stanley Cup Playoffs as he led the Kings to their first-ever Stanley Cup championship.

The Penguins and Sidney Crosby are finalizing a new contract that will be worth $104.4M over 12 years, according to an ESPN.com report. The Penguins announced the deal Thursday on their website. The contract will carry an average salary of about $8.7M a season, although it will be front-loaded. The new contract would go into effect for the 2013-14 season.

The Kings have agreed to terms on a new two-year contract with center Colin Fraser, Kings President/GM Dean Lombardi announced today. Fraser, 27, had eight points and 67 penalty minutes in 67 regular season games with the Kings this past season, his first in Los Angeles. He also appeared in 18 of the Kings 20 postseason games, totaling two points and four penalty minutes for the Stanley Cup Champions.
