The San Jose Sharks' disappointing season just took another hit with news that forward Tomas Hertl is done for the season after suffering a knee injury Wednesday.

The team announced that he suffered a torn ACL and MCL.

Knights Fire Gerard Gallant, Hire Peter DeBoer

The Vegas Golden Knights have fired Gerard Gallant and hired Peter DeBoer.

DeBoer was fired by the San Jose Sharks last month.

"In order for our team to reach its full potential, we determined a coaching change was necessary. Our team is capable of more than we have demonstrated this season," Golden Knights general manager Kelly McCrimmon said in a statement.

"We would like to thank Gerard and Mike for their service to the Vegas Golden Knights. They were both instrumental to the success we have enjoyed in our first two-plus seasons and we wish them all the best moving forward."

The New Jersey Devils fired general manager Ray Shero on Sunday prior to their 3-1 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.

Assistant GM Tom Fitzgerald will serve as the interim GM, and he will "receive support" from Hall of Fame goaltender Martin Brodeur, who is serving as an adviser to hockey operations, according to the team.

Couture is expected to miss up to six weeks with a fractured ankle that he suffered Tuesday night in the Sharks' 3-2 loss at the Blues, GM Doug Wilson confirmed Thursday. Couture was in a walking boot after Tuesday's game. He awkwardly slammed his left leg into the end boards in the second period.

The Calgary Flames and defenseman Rasmus Andersson have agreed to a six-year, $27.3 million contract extension. The deal was announced Wednesday.

The 23-year-old native of Sweden has three goals, nine assists and 33 penalty minutes in 45 games for Calgary this season, his second full year with the NHL club. He is averaging 19 minutes, 14 seconds on the ice and has 85 shots on goal.
