MacLean: No Rush To Name Senators Captain

Senators head coach Paul MacLean said Friday there's no timetable to name a new captain after Daniel Alfredsson left the team to sign as a free agent with the Red Wings.

"We're going to go through a process," MacLean said, according to the Senators' website. "I've got to spend some time talking to the individuals, talking to (general manager) Bryan Murray, talking to my coaching staff.

Selanne Returns To Ducks For Final Season

The Ducks announced today that the club has signed all-time franchise leading scorer Teemu Selanne to a one-year contract through the 2013-14 NHL season.
 
“It’s great to have Teemu back. He clearly still has passion for the game and can’t wait to get started,” said Executive Vice President/GM Bob Murray. “We are so pleased that Teemu will end his career where he belongs.”
 
Selanne, 43, enters his 15th season with Anaheim (1996-01; 2005-present) having amassed 448-513=961 points in 902 games in a Ducks uniform. 
 
“I’m so happy to be back,” said Selanne. “I’ve always wanted to finish my career in Anaheim, and I plan on making it count.”

Jarome Iginla stepped on the ice as a Bruins player for the first time Tuesday, taking part in drills with new teammates in Wilmington, Mass., according to an NHL.com report.

"It felt good, and it's great to be here at the facility and get a chance to meet some of the guys, and just starting it up again," the longtime Flames captain told the Bruins' website.

U.S. Olympic Team Has Six Goalies Competing

Ryan Miller says it's a wide-open competition among six goaltenders for three spots on the U.S. Olympic team for the Sochi Games next year.

Miller was MVP at the Winter Olympics in 2010, when he helped the U.S. win silver. 

Kings goalie Jonathan Quick is the favorite to be the No. 1 goalie for the Americans.

The deal is worth $24M over six years, a source confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com's Katie Strang.

Patrice Bergeron '95 Percent' After Injuries

After suffering multiple injuries, Bruins center Patrice Bergeron said Sunday he is closing in on a complete recovery, according to an NHL.com report.

"I feel pretty good," Bergeron said at an press conference for Canada national men's team camp. "I'm pretty much 95 percent to where I'd like to be. [It] took a little time to get back to feeling good and normal, but workouts, and I've been on the ice this week and it's been feeling well, so I've felt pretty good.

"I'm confident that I'll be ready for [Boston training] camp and definitely ready for October (the season opener)."
