Nazem Kadri survived Toronto's round of cuts to form a preseason roster of 30. Kadri is a Muslim and a minority in a sport heavily populated by Christian whites, but he sees his difference as an opportunity to be a role model. ?I was in the same position (as a kid), like you?re in awe when you meet an NHL player,? says Kadri. ?I want to be the best role model I can. It inspires me when I see these young boys come out for autographs. ?Hockey is going to become more multicultural. People from all different backgrounds and religions are going to be coming into the game of hockey. That?s good for the sport, that?s good for all communities.?
