The Blue Jackets made several moves today to reduce their roster to 23 players heading into this Saturday?s season opener vs. the Wild, GM Scott Howson announced. The Blue Jackets placed left wing Fredrik Modin on IR; placed left wing Alexandre Picard and defenseman Mathieu Roy on waivers for the purpose of assignment to the Syracuse Crunch, the club?s AHL affiliate; returned left wing Matt Calvert to the Brandon Wheat Kings of the WHL; and released defenseman Martin Skoula. In addition, the club announced the signing of defensemen David Liffiton and Dylan Reese to two-way NHL-AHL contracts with both players currently assigned to Syracuse.
