The Tampa Bay Lightning have signed free agent defenseman Geoff Kinrade to an amateur tryout contract, Executive Vice President and General Manager Brian Lawton announced. Kinrade will report to Tampa Bay. Kinrade, 6 foot and 207 pounds, has played in eight games with the Admirals this season, recording one goal and four points with a plus-3 rating. Before joining the admirals he appeared in 38 games with the Michigan Tech Huskies of the WCHA, recording three goals and 16 points. Kinrade was tied for second on the team in assists and was tied for fourth in points. He also served as an alternate captain for the Huskies this year. A native of Nelson, British Columbia, Kinrade has played in 150 career games in four seasons at Michigan Tech. He registered 14 career goals and 61 points. In 2007-08 he led all Michigan Tech defensemen with five goals and 19 points in 39 games.
