Nashville Predators Executive Vice President/General Manager David Poile announced today that the club has claimed goaltender Michael Leighton on waivers from the Anaheim Ducks. The Predators also activated defenseman Mikko Lehtonen from injured reserve and assigned him and goaltender Karl Goehring to the Milwaukee Admirals of the American Hockey League. Leighton is 8-6-1 with a 2.31 goals-against average and two shutouts in 16 games with the Portland Pirates this season. The 6-3, 186-pound native of Petrolia, Ont. is tied for third in the AHL in wins, is tied for second in shutouts and ranks fourth in goals-against average. Leighton is 8-12-10 with a 2.96 goals-against average in 42 career NHL games with Chicago. He was originally Chicago?s fifth choice, 165th overall (sixth round), in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft.
