Phoenix Coyotes' General Manager Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have recalled left wing Josh Gratton from the San Antonio Rampage (AHL). Gratton has not played in any NHL games this season after suffering a broken finger during the Coyotes? first preseason game at Anaheim on Sept. 16. During his two-week conditioning assignment with San Antonio which began on Oct. 15, Gratton registered 34 penalty minutes (PIM) in six games. Gratton, 25, recorded 1-1-2 in 52 games last season. The 6-foot-2, 214-pound forward also led the Coyotes and ranked 2nd in the NHL with 188 PIM in 2006-07. The Coyotes collected a record of 25-25-2 in games in which Gratton was in the lineup last season. The Coyotes acquired Gratton from Philadelphia along with two 2nd round choices in the 2006 NHL Entry Draft for Denis Gauthier on Mar. 9, 2006. Gratton was originally signed as a free agent by Philadelphia on July 27, 2004. In 66 career NHL games with the Coyotes and Philadelphia, Gratton has recorded 2-1-3 and 232 PIM.
