The Flyers had their first set of surgeries for the season and everything went as expected.
Scottie Upshall had his left wrist set and R.J. Umberger had a series of small screws inserted in his left pinky. Upshall is expected to be out 4 to 6 weeks and Umberger up to 14 days.
The good news is that Joffrey Lupul did not suffer a fracture of his wrist and could be ready for the opener next Thursday in Calgary. And defenseman Randy Jones is day-to-day with a bruised hip.
"Lupul has a sprained wrist and had some medicine injected into the wrist and we're hopeful that with 3 to 5 days of rest he'll be better," Holmgren said.
