Karel Pilar is getting a second chance at returning to the NHL. One day after being sent to the minors by the Thrashers, Pilar on Thursday was claimed off waivers by the Blackhawks. Pilar is attempting to return to the NHL after battling viral myopathy, a condition that stiffens the heart. The 29-year-old defenseman last appeared in the league with Toronto in 2003-04, when he recorded two goals and 17 assists in 50 games.
