John Ferguson, vice-president and general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Monday that the club has re-signed restricted free agent defencemen Jay Harrison to a one-year contract. The Oshawa, Ontario native split last season between the Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). In five games with the Leafs he collected zero points with six penalty minutes. Following his assignment to the Marlies on November 18 he played 41 games collecting 18 points (four goals and 14 assists) with 68 penalty minutes. Harrison, 25, was Toronto?s fourth pick, 82nd overall, in the 2001 NHL Entry Draft.
