The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has acquired left wing Jason King and a conditional third-round draft choice in the 2009 NHL Entry Draft from the Vancouver Canucks in exchange for right wing Ryan Shannon. King, 25, (9/14/81), has played in 55 NHL games with Vancouver (2002-2004), scoring 12-11=23 points. The 6-1, 195-pound forward played with Manitoba (Vancouver's AHL affiliate) for parts of four seasons from 2002-2006. A native of Corner Brook, Newfoundland, King played with Skelleftea AIK HK in the Swedish Elite league last season, scoring 15-4=19 points in 55 games. He was drafted by Vancouver in the seventh round (212th overall) of the 2001 NHL Entry Draft. Shannon, 24 (3/2/83), played in his first 53 NHL games last season with Anaheim, scoring 2-9=11 points. He was signed by Anaheim as a free agent on Nov. 28, 2005. In 11 playoff games with the Ducks, Shannon was scoreless with six PIM. Shannon also appeared in 14 games with Portland (AHL) last season, scoring 2-7=9 points.
