Had the Flyers finished last in the NHL in 2006, they could have had Jordan Staal with the second pick in the draft. Had they been the worst team in 2004, a year before the lockout, they would have had a chance to pick Alexander Ovechkin or Evgeni Malkin. Although last season's Flyers were the worst team in the league and in franchise history, they didn't finish with the top pick in tonight's draft. That belongs to the Chicago Blackhawks, who won the draft lottery. "This isn't a once-in-a-lifetime draft," Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren said. "Having the No. 2 pick this year is good, but it's not like Malkin or Jordan Staal at No. 2 pick."
