The Avalanche announced today that the team has acquired forward Rocco Grimaldi from the Panthers in exchange for goaltender Reto Berra.

Grimaldi, 23, was Florida’s second-round pick (33rd overall) in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft. He appeared in 20 games for the Panthers this past season, tallying five points (3g/2a). He also dressed in two playoff games during Florida’s first-round series against the Islanders.

Grimaldi spent most of the season with the Portland Pirates of the AHL, where he notched 33 points (16 goals, 17 assists) in 52 contests. Grimaldi made his NHL debut with the Panthers in 2014-15, appearing in seven games.
