Team North America has named Todd McLellan as its head coach for the 2016 World Cup.

"We are excited to name our head coach and management team for our World Cup squad," Oilers GM Peter Chiarelli said in a statement.

In picking McLellan, Chiarelli is tapping a coach he not only already works closely with, but also one who has close ties with major players on the team. To be eligible to play for Team North America, players have to be 23 or younger as of Oct. 1, 2016.
