Blue Jackets left wing Scott Hartnell has been named the NHL’s First Star of the Week for the period ending March 15, the League and club announced today. Rangers goaltender Cam Talbot was named Second Star, while Senators goaltender Andrew Hammond was the Third Star selection.

Hartnell scored five goals, collected 15 shots on goal in four games last week to lead the Blue Jackets to a 3-1-0 record.  On March 10, he scored two goals with his club trailing 3-1 and fired off a game-high seven shots as Columbus earned a 4-3 shootout win at Carolina.  Two nights later, he tallied the game-winning goal in a 3-1 victory at Detroit.  He then scored the game-tying goal at 16:23 of the third period in a 5-4 SO win vs. Edmonton on March 13 and extended his goal-scoring streak to four games with a goal in a 3-2 loss vs. Carolina on Mar. 15.
