A source told The Canadian Press that Gary Roberts, late Monday night, agreed to waive his no-trade clause in order for the Panthers to complete a deal with the Penguins. The deal is expected to be announced Tuesday morning, the source said. Roberts, 40, an unrestricted free agent July 1, had hoped to be dealt to Ottawa or Toronto but in the end accepted the move to join Sidney Crosby in Pittsburgh after deliberating all day Monday. The Maple Leafs, sources confirmed to The Canadian Press on Monday night, had also made an offer to Florida for Roberts.
