The Avalanche announced on Friday that the team has signed defenseman Kyle Cumiskey to a one-year contract through the 2011-12 season. "We are pleased to have Kyle under contract and look forward to seeing him at training camp," said Avalanche GM/Executive Vice President Greg Sherman. Cumiskey, 24, tallied eight points, but was limited to 18 games with Colorado in 2010-11, due to injuries. Colorado's ninth selection (seventh round, 222nd overall) in the 2005 Entry Draft, Cumiskey has skated in 132 career NHL games, tallying 35 points. The Abbotsford, B.C., native led all Colorado defensemen with seven goals and finished with 20 points in 61 games in 2009-10.
