Coyotes GM Don Maloney announced today that the Coyotes have acquired center Daymond Langkow from the Flames in exchange for right wing Lee Stempniak. The trade is contingent upon Langkow passing a physical examination. “We are very pleased to welcome Daymond back to the Coyotes organization,” Maloney said. “He is an intelligent, well respected, veteran center. His competitive, two-way game is a great fit for us and we are excited to have him back in Phoenix.” Langkow has recorded 259-383-642 in 1,017 career NHL games with Calgary, Phoenix, Philadelphia and Tampa Bay. The 34-year-old native of Edmonton, Alberta played in four games last season with Calgary after missing most of the year with an upper body injury. He registered 14-23-37 in 2009-10 with the Flames. Langkow previously played for the Coyotes for three seasons from 2001-2004 and posted 68-98-166 in 243 games. He was originally selected by the Lightning in the first round (fifth overall) of the 1995 NHL Entry Draft. In two seasons with the Coyotes (2009-11), Stempniak recorded 33-23-56 in 100 regular season games.
