FBI Probing Hunter's Role In Real Estate Scam

The FBI is investigating whether Pistons' guard Lindsay Hunter and business associates tricked a local boiler operator into buying a $1.25-million house that he couldn’t afford, according to Detroit Free Press.

Attorney Michael J. Smith said that his client Bruce McClellan of Waterford Township recently told the FBI that Hunter and Iron Johnson, Hunter’s business partner, promised to pay him $300,000 last year to buy the million-dollar house.

The deal called for McClellan to hold the house for one or two months until it could be purchased by someone else.

Hunter could not be reached for comment, but his lawyer said, "Lindsey Hunter hasn’t done anything wrong. He was misled by other people who were conducting transactions in the corporation. ... We’re still trying to figure out who did what."

Dumars Not Disappointed By Lack Of Moves

Detroit executive Joe Dumars isn't disappointed by the fact that he hasn't been able to swing a sizable move this offseason despite his insistence in June that he planned to shake up the roster, according NBA.com.

"I’m not disappointed, and I’m not frustrated. I’m never disappointed or frustrated when there’s nothing on the table to pull the trigger on a good deal," Dumars told Pistons.com. "When there’s no good deal to be made, you can’t get frustrated and disappointed and force yourself to do something that’s not smart."

"I’ll reiterate what I said early on after the season was over. That we would be open to doing any deal, but I’m not going to give players away and make a bad deal. I understand the way the world works now," Dumars added. "I understand the way the media and fans hear and decipher what they want to. So when people ask me what about the big trade, my response is always the same: What big trade is that? What I said was I would go out and try to make a deal if there was one to be made but don’t look for me to give anybody away."

Detroit Re-Signs Herrmann

The Detroit Pistons re-signed forward Walter Herrmann on Monday.

"He is a player with tremendous work ethic and showed last year that he is a player that can contribute," Pistons President of Basketball Operations Joe Dumars said in a statement.
