NHL.com - Brendan Shanahan was talking and had movement in his extremities upon being treated in hospital following a violent mid-ice collision during the Rangers-Flyers NHL game Saturday afternoon.

The 38-year-old left-winger was taken off the ice on a stretcher with 12 minutes remaining after a hard collision with Philadelphia's Mike Knuble. Shanahan was unconscious on his back for several minutes.

He moved his left leg slightly as medical personnel attended to him, and he appeared to also be bleeding from the mouth one day after extensive dental work. He lost a tooth Thursday night at Carolina after being struck by a puck. [READ]
