Rangers Recall Ortmeyer

Press Release - New York Rangers President and General Manager Glen Sather announced today that forward Jed Ortmeyer has been recalled from the Hartford Wolf Pack of the American Hockey League.

Ortmeyer, 28, has registered one goal and three assists, along with a plus-two rating and six penalty minutes in eight games with Hartford (AHL) this season. After being medically cleared to play on December 28, the 6-0, 197-pound forward collected one assist and four penalty minutes in three games during a second conditioning assignment in the American Hockey League. In his first conditioning stint, allowed for players who have had long-term illnesses, Ortmeyer registered one goal and two assists, along with a plus-two rating in five games with Hartford from December 13 to December 23. On November 24, Ortmeyer was cleared for contact in practice after medical testing showed he was ready to take the next step in his recovery from a pulmonary embolism that was diagnosed on August 13, 2006.
