Jackets Recall D Wilson From Syracuse

RealGM Staff Report - The Columbus Blue Jackets have recalled defenseman Clay Wilson from the Syracuse Crunch, the club’s American Hockey League affiliate, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

Wilson, 25, has collected eight goals and seven assists for 15 points, including a team-leading five power play goals, and four penalty minutes in 23 games with the Crunch this season. He currently leads all AHL defensemen in goals and ranks fourth in points. In 233 career AHL games, he has registered 41-101-142 and 131 penalty minutes with a cumulative plus/minus rating of +34.

The Sturgeon Lake, Minnesota native was acquired by the Blue Jackets with defenseman Aaron Rome from the Anaheim Ducks in exchange for forward Geoff Platt on Nov. 14, 2007. He made his NHL debut with Columbus last season and tallied 1-1-2, two penalty minutes and was +3 in seven games. The Michigan Tech University product also had 14-33-47 and 35 penalty minutes in 71 AHL games with Syracuse and Portland in 2007-08 and played in the AHL All-Star Game. [READ]
