Modano, already the leading American-born scorer in league history, is now one of just 31 players to reach 1,300 points.
"I've been lucky to be around for a long time and a bit old, but I've been fortunate to be in the game for a long time and I'm very blessed about it," said Modano, who first broke in with the Minnesota North Stars in 1989.
