| 27th November, 2008 - 7:04 pm |  RealGM Staff Report - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has recalled goaltender David LeNeveu from the Iowa Chops, Anaheim?s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL). In addition, the Ducks have reassigned defenseman Brett Festerling to Iowa.
LeNeveu, 25 (5/23/83), posted a 6-6-0 record with a 2.85 goals-against average (GAA) and .887 save percentage (SV%) in 12 games with Iowa. The 6-1, 194-pound goaltender has appeared in 21 career NHL contests (all with the Phoenix Coyotes), going 5-9-2 with a 3.38 GAA and .888 SV%. Originally selected by Phoenix in the second round (46th overall) of the 2002 NHL Entry Draft, LeNeveu recorded his first NHL win on Oct. 25, 2005 in a 5-4 overtime victory vs. St. Louis.
Signed by Anaheim as a free agent on July 7, 2008, LeNeveu compiled a 17-10-5 record with a 2.33 GAA and .916 SV% in 34 games with San Antonio and Hartford of the AHL last season. The netminder ranked third among AHL goaltenders with a .921 SV% in 2005-06.
Festerling, 22 (3/3/86), appeared in five games with the Ducks, going scoreless with an even plus/minus rating and four penalty minutes (PIM). Festerling made his NHL debut on Nov. 16 vs. the Los Angeles Kings, registering 17:42 time on ice (TOI). He began the 2008-09 regular season in Iowa, scoring 0-5=5 points with a +2 rating and 14 PIM in 14 games. The 6-1, 214-pound blue-liner ranked second among Chops defensemen in scoring and tied for first in assists at the time of his Nov. 15 recall.
Signed as a free agent on Sept. 14, 2005, Festerling spent his first professional season with Portland (AHL) in 2007-08, collecting 3-11=14 points with 64 PIM in 74 games. In the 2008 Calder Cup Playoffs, he helped the Pirates to an Eastern Conference Finals appearance, scoring 1-3=4 points in 15 games. [READ] |
