Jackets Activate Modin Off IR; Send Dorsett To AHL Syracuse

Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have activated left wing Fredrik Modin off injured reserve and assigned right wing Derek Dorsett to the Syracuse Crunch, Columbus? American Hockey League affiliate, club General Manager Scott Howson announced today. Modin is expected to return to the lineup tonight, when the Blue Jackets visit the New York Islanders.

Modin, 34, has recorded three assists and four penalty minutes in five games this season. In 769 career NHL games, he has tallied 211-208-419, 389 penalty minutes, and has a cumulative plus/minus rating of +4 with the Blue Jackets, Tampa Bay Lightning, and Toronto Maple Leafs.

Dorsett, 21, notched 1-1-2 and 56 penalty minutes in 10 games this season. He leads the NHL in penalty minutes and scored his first NHL goal ? the game-winner ? against Vancouver on October 21. Columbus? ninth pick, 189th overall, in the 2006 Entry Draft, he has registered 10-8-18 with 289 penalty minutes and a cumulative plus/minus rating of +5 in 64 career AHL games. [READ]
