Columbus Recalls LaCosta, Sends Russell Down

Press Release - The Columbus Blue Jackets have added goaltender Dan LaCosta to the roster on emergency recall from the Syracuse Crunch, the club?s American Hockey League affiliate, and assigned defenseman Kris Russell to the Crunch, Blue Jackets General Manager Scott Howson announced today.

LaCosta, 22, stopped 15-of-17 shots in 35 minutes in relief of Fredrik Norrena at Nashville on October 18 in his only action this season with the Blue Jackets. He has a 5-0-0 record with a 2.08 goals-against average and .929 save percentage in five games with the Crunch this season. He is 19-9-4 with a 2.41 goals-against average, .916 save percentage and four shutouts in 39 career AHL games. He was Columbus? fourth pick, 93rd overall, in the 2004 Entry Draft.

Russell, 21, has recorded one point in five games for the Blue Jackets this season. Columbus? third pick, 67th overall, in the 2005 Entry Draft, he has recorded 2-9-11 with 14 penalty minutes in 72 career games. [READ]
