Ducks Claim McIver From Vancouver

Press Release - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has claimed defenseman Nathan McIver on waivers from Vancouver. In addition, the club has assigned defenseman Brett Festerling to Iowa, Anaheim?s primary development affiliate in the American Hockey League (AHL).

McIver, 23 (1/6/85), appeared in three preseason games with Vancouver in 2008, going scoreless with a +2 rating and 16 penalty minutes (PIM). McIver split his third professional campaign between Vancouver and Manitoba (AHL) last year, going scoreless with 59 PIM in 17 games with the Canucks.

A native of Summerside, Prince Edward Island, McIver made his professional debut with Manitoba in 2005-06. He has played in 172 career AHL games, collecting 5-11=16 points with 353 PIM. Selected by Vancouver in the eighth round (254th overall) of the 2003 NHL Entry Draft, McIver established AHL career highs in goals (3), assists (3) and points (6) in 43 games with the Moose last season.

Festerling, 22 (3/3/86), recorded 0-1=1 point with 9 PIM in five preseason games with the Ducks in 2008. He played his first professional season with Portland (AHL) last year, scoring 3-11=14 points with 64 PIM in 74 games. [READ]
