Ducks Sign Logan MacMillan To Three-Year Entry-Level Contract

Press Release - The Anaheim Ducks announced today that the National Hockey League (NHL) club has signed 2007 first-round pick Logan MacMillan to a three-year entry-level contract. Per club policy, financial terms were not disclosed.

MacMillan, 19 (7/5/89), scored 15-26=41 points with 77 penalty minutes (PIM) in 46 games with Halifax of the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League (QMJHL) last season. MacMillan also appeared in 15 playoff games for the Mooseheads, recording 3-10=13 points with 20 PIM while helping lead his team to the QMJHL Semifinals for the second consecutive season. In 2006-07, he won the Steele Ford Lincoln Trophy as Halifax?s best defensive forward.

Selected by Anaheim in the first round (19th overall) of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft, MacMillan has played 176 career QMJHL games, scoring 44-70=114 points with 190 PIM. He has averaged nearly a point-per-game in the postseason, collecting 13-21=34 points with 26 PIM in 38 career QMJHL playoff games.

A native of Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, Logan is the son of former NHL center and 1979 Lady Byng Trophy winner Bob MacMillan. In 11 NHL seasons, the elder MacMillan scored 228-349=577 points with 260 PIM in 753 career NHL games between the New York Rangers, St. Louis Blues, Atlanta Flames, Calgary Flames, Colorado Rockies, New Jersey Devils, and Chicago Blackhawks from 1974-85.
