| 13th May, 2008 - 10:51 pm |  Andrew Perna/RealGM - The Pittsburgh Penguins are just one win away from the Stanley Cup Finals after defeating the Philadelphia Flyers 4-1 on Tuesday night.
Ryan Whitney and Marian Hossa got the Penguins out to an early lead with consecutive goals in the first period, and the Flyers were never able to recover.
R.J. Umberger answered for Philadelphia at the 10:59 mark in the first, but the Flyers failed to find the back of the net again in the loss.
Marc-Andre Fleury saved seventeen shots in the win, as Pittsburgh's defense kept the Flyers from attempting a flurry of shots of goal.
The Penguins attempted 25 shots on goal, with their final score coming with Flyers goalie Marty Biron on the bench.
Ryan Malone scored on a backhander at the 9:58 mark of the third period to put the Pens ahead 3-1, while Hossa found the net empty with 54 seconds left in Game Three.
The Flyers turned the puck over numerous times, killing any chance they had of coming back from Pittsburgh's early scoring barrage.
Game Four will be in Philadelphia on Thursday night as the Penguins look to sweep their way to the Stanley Cups Finals. [READ] |
