ESPN - Goalie Olaf Kolzig confirmed to The Associated Press that he will not return to the Capitals, the only NHL team he has ever played for, next season.

"For me, it was disappointing the way it ended. ... It just doesn't feel right," the 38-year-old goalie told The Washington Post for a story Friday. "But at the same time, as an athlete, you have to know when to move on."

He was drafted by Washington in the first round of the 1989 draft, won the Vezina trophy in 2000 and holds most of the team's goaltending records.

"Olie has been great for the Washington Capitals, and the Capitals were great for Olie," general manager George McPhee said. "He has been a great leader and ambassador for the club. Olie can still play, and if he decides to continue to play, we wish him the very best." [READ]
