Conference Finals Will Add To Storied Rivalry
6th May, 2008 - 11:42 am
The Pittsburgh Tribune-Review - The Eastern Conference Finals between the Flyers and Penguins will do nothing but further the storied rivalry between the two Pennsylvania franchises, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review.

"There wasn't much hatred between (Montreal and Philadelphia in the second round)," said the Flyers' Danny Briere. "We all know what happened with Pittsburgh this year - the things that happened on the ice and the comments that were made after the game. So I expect this to be played with a lot more intensity right off the bat, where against Montreal it took three, four games before we started hating each other."

"It was the first or second game we played each other [during the regular season], right away I realized the severe intensity that was there," Briere added. "It didn't take me long. Now it's the playoffs and my first year against them. I'm sure we'll bump it up a few notches."

The two teams have met 254 times in NHL history, including 18 playoff battles. [READ]
